Favourite Lip Products of The Month

30 May

I popped into H&M recently and was quite pleased to discover that they have updated their make up range, lip products, eye shadows and nail polishes, so I picked up a couple of lip products and I must say they are not bad at all!

IMAG0925

First up is the lipstick, which is a lovely shade of red that is blue based and excellent for my skin tone! It is very pigmented and applies quite smoothly to the lips, giving them some amount of moisture. Available at H&M stores priced £3.99.

Above is the tinted Shimmer lip balm, which is a joy to use! It moisturises your lips, adding a lovely pearl sheen to them. Can be used as a base to lighten darker shades of lipstick. H&M stores priced £1.50.

I have also been trying out a lipstick from Barry M’s new lip colour range, lipsticks infused with cocoa butter. The shade I have been using is no. 156 Vicious Violet (pictured above). This is a highly pigmented violet colour. It has a lovely texture and feels quite soothing  on the lips. I guess the cocoa butter is doing its moisturising duties! This lipstick is long lasting and can be quite hard to remove from the lips with just a plain wipe or tissue, so a good make up remover could be required. Available in 30 shades, priced £4.49 from Boots or Superdrug.

Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rose – This lip butter is a joy to use! It applies smoothly to your lips, moisturises the lips well, and has a delightful raspberry fragrance , which I love.

Holiday Buys

22 Dec

I visited Canada in September and these are some of the beauty purchases I made. These are not available in the UK, so I thought I would try them out.

IMAG0602

I bought these eyeliners from Sephora, a pack of four mini liners. From top to bottom: Midnight black, Kaki Green, Psychedelic Purple and Nuage. I have been using these liners for a while now and I think they are quite good! They are soft and easy to apply and the pigmentation is just fab!

IMAG0598

I also got the above face brush from Sephora. It’s got really soft but firm bristles and is quite a good exfoliating and cleansing tool, and a way cheaper alternative to the ever popular Clarisonic. I use this with my facial wash/cleanser.

IMAG0579

I love tinted lip balms, and I had read a couple of good reviews about the Maybelline balms so I decided to try a couple .The top  one called Grape Vine gives a bit of a purple tint, whilst the bottom, Pink Punch gives your lips a nice pink tint. They are lovely to use and very moisturising on the lips. Wonder why these are not available in the UK.

The above products are also in the tinted lip balm category. They are covergirl lipslicks in Hipster above and Daring below. Like the Maybelling balms, they also give your lips a hint of a tint and are very moisturiing.

IMAG0585

I thought I would try one of the wet and wild eyeshadows as reviews of these have been positive. The above is a trio of nice neutrals called Knock on wood. These are very pigmented and easy to apply as they blend well.

The above products were purchased from Bath and Body Works. From left to right: Paris Amour body lotion and fragrance mist and White Citrus  fragrance mist. Paris Amour has a lovely floral fragrance whilst White Citrus has a sharp citrus fragrance.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

May Favourites

31 May

Clinique Chubby Stick in Richer Raisin

This is a really lovely dark wine shade, which applies quite sheer and is very moisturising on the lips.

Dirty Works Coconut Caress Body Butter

I absolutely love this body butter! Love the fun retro packaging. It has a pleasant coconut fragrance and it is easily absorbed by the skin upon application, leaving your skin soft and moisturised, with a pleasant scent. Available at Sainsbury, currently on sale for £2.24. Normal price £4.99.

MUA Lipgloss Shade 5 and Lipstick Shade 6

I have been using a lot of pinks lately, I just think it’s a nice bright and summery colour. The two above are my  current favourites. I love using this lipgloss over the lipstick, although most times I use the gloss on its own. The gloss is non-sticky, moisturising and glossy.

Alberto Balsam Mandarin and Papaya Conditioner

The main reason why I love this conditioner so much is its fantastic fruity smell. It actually does smell like Mandarin and papaya and moreover, it leaves my hair feeling soft and conditioned not to mention fruity!

Favourite Nail Polishes

These are the polishes I have enjoyed using this month. From left to right:

  • MUA Nail Polish in Shade 18
  • Rimmel Lasting Finish in Disco Ball
  • MUA Nail Polish in Shade 8
  • Nails Inc polish in Power Pink – free with June 2012 Instyle Magazine
  • Collcetion 2000 Nail Polish in Coral Reef
  • Rimmel 60 seconds in Purple Reign

Maybelline Colour Sensational Popsticks

22 May

I am loving the current trend for barely there moisturising lip colours, which are great for the summer months. Some time ago, Maybelline launched their Colour Sensational Popsticks, which are bright neon coloured transparent lipbalms in lipstick form.

I have been using Citrus Slice, (pictured above) which is a neon orange colour. It is moisturising on the lips, but after a couple of hours, you would need to re-apply. The popsticks are’nt glossy at all, think Chapstick sheen with a tiny hint of colour. This is not a very pigmented product as it is almost invisible on the lips, (hence no swatches) but I quite like the tiny tiny hint of orange colour it gave my lips. These are available in five shades priced £7.19 each, from Boots or Superdrug.

Boots 17 Berry Crush Lip Stain

9 Apr

The current trend for lip stains continue, with Boots 17, recently launching their Berry Crush lip stains. Pictured above and below are Cherry Berry, which is a deep berry shade and Blushing which I think  is a very wearable suit-all pink shade.

The Lip stains contain vitamin C, and come with a felt tip applicator and a lip balm at the end which I find to be very moisturising and soothing on the lips. I love these lip stains which are long lasting and WILL STAY on your lips till you remove with cleanser. They are available in six shades, priced £4.99 and are available from Boots.

Cherry Berry and Blushin (Swatched)

My Current Favourite and E.L.F

22 Mar

The new Avon Shine Attract Lipstick (pictures above) is a current favourite. This is a  lipstick and lip balm in one. The lipstick has an outer gel layer which moisturises your lips and gives it shine , whilst the inner core adds full colour to your lips. I like the feel of this lipstick as it applies smoothly. You can wear this sheer or apply more for full colour. I have been wearing P201 Plumberry pictured above and swatched below. It’s priced £8.50, but it is currenty on special offer for £5.00 and can be purchased from the Avon website here.

I recently got these items from ELF:

Moisturising lip tint spf 8 Berry £3.50 – This is a dark pink/fuchsia tinted lip balm. Has a sweet sugary taste.

Clarifying pressed powder £1.50 – I love this pressed powder! It gives good coverage and does a good job keeping away the shine.

Eyebrow Kit dark £3.50 – Great for filling in sparse eyebrows.

Studio Glossy Gloss in Funky Fuchsia £3.50 – This gloss gives your lips high shine and colour, and is non-sticky.

Tone Correcting Concealer £1.50 – This is a liquid concealer, which is great for under the eyes and concealing blemishes.

Pro Mini Eyeshadow Palette cool (above) £3.75 – This palette contains 32 eye shadows, some of which are matte, whilst others are shimmery. These eye shadows are pigmented and apply smoothly to your eye lids.

E.L.F products can be purchased here.
