Avon 8-in-one Eye Palette – The Metallics

IMAG1058

I think the palette above has a lovely mix of colours. The shadows have some shimmer in them, but are not strongly metallic. The shadows are nicely pigmented, and they do last long on the lids and I tried them on without eye primer. The palette costs under £10, which I think is good value for your money.

Elf Mineral Face Primer – This is a silicone based face primer, which is in a transparent gel form. It is non-oily and I find it effectively prepares your skin for the application of your foundation, giving your skin a smooth finish and helping your foundation stay on longer.

This is MUA single eye shadow in shade 13. It is a very deep purple colour which I have really loved using this month. It is very pigmented and can also be used as an eyeliner. This can also be used to create a fabulous smokey eye look. It’s a bargain costing only a pound.

Rimmel Volume Lipstick in Boost – I have had this lipstick for quite a while now, and have only just rediscovered it. It’s a lovely satin deep pink colour which is very pigmented and moisturising on the lips.

Kiko Glossy Eye Pencil – This is another rediscovered product which I had not been using, but have enjoyed using this month. It is very pigmented and gives a glossy sheen to your waterline or eye lids.

Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer – I have really loved using this, this month! When I am not using the Elf primer, I opt for this one which brightens your skin and provides a good base for your foundation. I think it does make my complexion glow.

HAPPY  SHOPPING

Favourite Lip Products of The Month

30 May

I popped into H&M recently and was quite pleased to discover that they have updated their make up range, lip products, eye shadows and nail polishes, so I picked up a couple of lip products and I must say they are not bad at all!

IMAG0925

First up is the lipstick, which is a lovely shade of red that is blue based and excellent for my skin tone! It is very pigmented and applies quite smoothly to the lips, giving them some amount of moisture. Available at H&M stores priced £3.99.

IMAG0927

Above is the tinted Shimmer lip balm, which is a joy to use! It moisturises your lips, adding a lovely pearl sheen to them. Can be used as a base to lighten darker shades of lipstick. H&M stores priced £1.50.

IMAG0957

I have also been trying out a lipstick from Barry M’s new lip colour range, lipsticks infused with cocoa butter. The shade I have been using is no. 156 Vicious Violet (pictured above). This is a highly pigmented violet colour. It has a lovely texture and feels quite soothing  on the lips. I guess the cocoa butter is doing its moisturising duties! This lipstick is long lasting and can be quite hard to remove from the lips with just a plain wipe or tissue, so a good make up remover could be required. Available in 30 shades, priced £4.49 from Boots or Superdrug.

February Favourites

28 Feb

These are the products I’ve been loving this month…

IMAG0721

Avon Ideal Flawless BB Skin Loving Beauty Balm – The new BB cream from Avon, which promises to deliver ‘moisture and spf15 protection without clogging pores’. It’s a lightweight bb cream containing mineral pigments. Like most BB creams, this is a basic tinted moisturiser with added extras. It has an almost watery consistency and gives very ligh coverage, so you might need to add concealer to hide more pronounced blemishes. Overall, it is a good tinted moisturiser, evening out your skin tone to some extent.  Available in 6 shades from Avon priced £12.00.

IMAG0690

The lipstick above is from the new makeup line B, available at Superdrug. Ther is a whole range of products in the line, eyeshadows, nailpolish, foundation amd powets etc. including a skincare range. The lipstick is called Pizzazz and I really like the shade. It is highly pigmented and doses last well on the lips. It applies smoothly to the lips and is quite moisturising. I foung it quite tricky to open at first, before I realised you have press the bottom in order to release it from the tube.

Above is another product from the B.range. The eyeshadow is called B. Vivid. If you like a sheer eyeshadow look, then this product is for you as this is not the most pigmented eyeshadow. Its a lovely violet shade and I think it works much better if used with a primer. I will keep using this though (with a primer) as I love the shade.

IMAG0686

I love this Born Lippy Plum  Lip Balm from The Body Shop! What can I say? Firstly, it has the most gorgeous fruity fragrance, and secondly, it feels so smooth and soothing on the lips and last bot not least. it moisturises my lips like a dream and it’s only £3.

IMAG0744

I have also been loving the above tinted lip balm from Miss Sporty, called Honey Moon Kiss SOS. This contains royal jelly, is very moisturising and gives your lips a lovely berry tint.

IMAG0725

Pictured above is the new Dolled Up Mascara from Boots Seventeen. This mascara promises to keep your eye lashes curled for up to 24 hours. I have been using this mascara but not 24 hours a day, All I can say is that it thickens my lashes beautifully, and gives them a bit of a curl.

IMAG0730

I love the concept of the Dolled Up Eyeliner from Boots Seventeen. This has three applicator tips in one, enabling you to use the dotting technique, which allows you to apply very close the lash line to create the illusion of fuller lashes. I have loved using this because I find it easy to apply close to my lashes and it does help create a fuller lash look. It is very pigmented and long lasting as well.

Holiday Buys

22 Dec

I visited Canada in September and these are some of the beauty purchases I made. These are not available in the UK, so I thought I would try them out.

IMAG0602

I bought these eyeliners from Sephora, a pack of four mini liners. From top to bottom: Midnight black, Kaki Green, Psychedelic Purple and Nuage. I have been using these liners for a while now and I think they are quite good! They are soft and easy to apply and the pigmentation is just fab!

IMAG0598

I also got the above face brush from Sephora. It’s got really soft but firm bristles and is quite a good exfoliating and cleansing tool, and a way cheaper alternative to the ever popular Clarisonic. I use this with my facial wash/cleanser.

IMAG0579

I love tinted lip balms, and I had read a couple of good reviews about the Maybelline balms so I decided to try a couple .The top  one called Grape Vine gives a bit of a purple tint, whilst the bottom, Pink Punch gives your lips a nice pink tint. They are lovely to use and very moisturising on the lips. Wonder why these are not available in the UK.

IMAG0575

The above products are also in the tinted lip balm category. They are covergirl lipslicks in Hipster above and Daring below. Like the Maybelling balms, they also give your lips a hint of a tint and are very moisturiing.

IMAG0585

I thought I would try one of the wet and wild eyeshadows as reviews of these have been positive. The above is a trio of nice neutrals called Knock on wood. These are very pigmented and easy to apply as they blend well.

IMAG0628

The above products were purchased from Bath and Body Works. From left to right: Paris Amour body lotion and fragrance mist and White Citrus  fragrance mist. Paris Amour has a lovely floral fragrance whilst White Citrus has a sharp citrus fragrance.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer

30 Nov

For the past couple of weeks, I have been using the new Express Hydration Primer from Nivea, and  I love it! It does what it says on the box!

The product has a gel like consistency and is non-oily. It absorbs into the skin really quickly and leaves your skin moisturised, primed and ready for foundation application. My foundation still looked fresh by the end of the day , and my skin looked less oily.

The fact that the product has a light texture and is non-greasy makes it a good product for oily skin.

Availabe from here  on sale for £3.99 but is normally £4.99.
